Wild Pottery with Joanna Terry

  • Rye Harbour Nature Reserve Rye Harbour TN31 7TX (map)

Join us in the joys of creation among the elements at Rye Harbour Nature Reserve!

Come and sample the joy of creating a Pinch pot with your hands as tools. Using beach pebbles and driftwood we will create together a small pot and spoon inspired by the beautiful beach at Rye harbour.

These will be taken back to dry and fire, where a simple glaze can be added to make them food-safe. Your items will be available to collect in a couple of weeks, but the reward of reconnecting with nature will be felt instantly.

“My inspiration often starts with a found piece of wood or stone, I then cast grasses, barks or wild plants outside in clay. Using these impressions to create my sculptural pieces. The vessels are displayed teetering on the edge, but remain grounded.” - Joanna Terry

You can park for free on Harbour Road or in the car park. We’ll meet at the entrance to Rye Harbour Nature Reserve to wander onto the beach together, so please arrive promptly at 5pm.

We will provide tea and refreshments to enjoy while crafting and if you want to stay and enjoy the sunset (please note gates of Rye Harbour Car Park are closed at 8pm).

We look forward to seeing you there! 💙
